Late Advent Life at Incarnation

Well, Jack Frost has been nipping at all our body parts this week.  But do bundle up tonight and make it to the Williams’ place for a cookie decorating extravaganza.  I hope to lapse into a muse-inspired trance when deploying the sprinkles.  Jonathan says we’re playing games again, so I will pray today that those with ultra-competitive spirits (Shaji and Maria) will be able to engage with grace.
One of the more delightful ministries at Incarnation comes this Sunday.  We’ll be preparing and serving food to some hungry friends at SMST on 84th.  If you can join us and help, please do.  Sharing a meal with homeless folks is pretty close to the heart of who we are at Incarnation.  It’s practice for becoming the kind of people we want to be.  And it’s just a fun way to serve others together.
Here’s my gift to you over the Christmas break -- homework!!  Lots of you like to have time to read ahead and reflect on the material that will be in focus at church.  This coming season from Christmas and Epiphany through Lent and Easter, we’ll be reading Matthew’s gospel.
I haven’t yet decided on a title for the series through Matthew.  Here are some of the first, unedited thoughts that ran through my mind.  You can vote on your favorite or propose your own by posting a comment.
Jesus the Hilarious Carpenter
Jesus the Mediocre Life Coach
Matthew’s Gospel: 90 Days to a Better You!
Rehabbing Jesus
Advice for City Dwellers from an Ancient Middle-Eastern Peasant
Keep the X in Xmas, Jared.

  1. Gosh! So many of these series sound great to me, especially Jesus the Mediocre Life Coach, 90 Days to a Better You, and Advice for City Dwellers... I need advice right now, so anything that hints at that in the title (even if it's mediocre) sounds great to me!!

Merry Christmas from Florida. Looking forward to seeing everyone when I get back!
